She offered him a rose in return for help but he again refused her, repulsed by her haggard face. Little did he know she was a powerful enchantress so upon his second refusal she turned him into a beast and all the inhabitants of his castle fell under her spell as well. The Beast’s only release was for him to learn to find love in his heart and before the last petal of the rose fell.
